This is the stabilizer I use to guide embroidery on dark or tricky fabrics like velvets. It's clear. You trace your embroidery pattern onto the stabilizer and then layer the stabilizer over your fabric and put them in the hoop together. Stitch right through both layers and - when you're done - just swish it in warm water. The stabilizer will dissolve away leaving no residue behind. Magic!
